FAMILY

We take pride in providing a service tailored to each client’s individual needs and which provides our clients with clear and sound advice in what can be very complex and emotionally difficult circumstances.
The family team has members of the Law Society’s Family Panel, the Children Panel and Resolution.
We try to resolve all disputes in a constructive and conciliatory way, preferably by way of negotiated agreement. However, where court proceedings are necessary, we have the expertise and backup to run such cases decisively and effectively.

CHILDREN

The interests of children require sensitive and expert handling. Our family team has extensive experience in acting for parents and children in difficult residence and contact disputes.
We can advise in relation to residence orders, contact orders, specific issue and prohibited steps orders under the Children Act.

CHILDREN PUBLIC LAW

We can represent either the parent (sometimes grandparents) or the child, in Public Law cases which is where the Local Authority have decided to intervene in the Child’s life, often seeking a Care Order.
We will usually be able to obtain a Legal Aid Funding Certificate for such proceedings. We will be working closely with the Guardian appointed by the Court, and other professionals and possibly experts who may become involved as the case progresses, but overall we will ensure that we provide the best possible advice to you as well as offering our support at what can be a very stressful situation for all.

DIVORCE

Relationship breakdowns can be upsetting and confusing. We are experienced in providing clear, focused advice combined with a sympathetic understanding of our client’s objectives.
We can help with the divorce procedure itself and the other aspects of divorce. We look at the best way of resolving any disputes and look to achieve the quickest way forward without ever compromising your best interests. We have particular experience of advising on financial matters including what is to happen to the house, mortgage, savings and pensions.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

We provide sympathetic advice, assistance and support. We can help you get a non molestation order, we can advise about Powers of Arrest and Occupation Orders to remove a violent partner from your home.
We respond quickly to requests for help in cases of domestic violence. The violence may be physical, sexual or psychological. It may be inflicted by anyone with whom you are in a domestic relationship, or have been in the past - for example, your spouse, partner, or child.
We discuss your needs and consider how best to protect you and possibly other members of your family, employing emergency procedures where appropriate.

COHABITATION

As well as advising divorcing couples we also provide advice to couples who are living together including same sex couples.

PRENUPTIAL AGREEMENTS

For those intending to marry, we can give you advice on how a pre-marital agreement (also known as ‘pre-nuptial agreement) may protect you from financial loss in the event of your marriage not lasting.
If you come to a marriage with your own assets, it usually makes common sense to take out a pre-marital agreement. Those approaching a second marriage may have a particular need to enter a pre-marital agreement.
