Family Lawyer

A new role has arisen for an ambitious Junior Family Lawyer to join this established practice in Bexleyheath, Kent. The successful candidate will need an aptitude in client facing matters and exceptional communication skills together with the ability to cope with emotionally taxing situations. You will have the ability to explain legal matters to clients with little or no legal knowledge and ability to work with people of all ages, from all walks of life, including the elderly.

The firm:
Thomas Boyd Whyte was established in 1946 and still practising in the same high street. We are a 3-partner practice, ambitious and still growing. We specialise in family, private client, domestic conveyancing, and criminal defence.

Overview:
The ideal candidate will have experience of dealing with the full spectrum of family law. You will work on an interesting mixed case load of all aspects of family law, including divorce, finance, and private family law matters. You will play an active role in Business Development and will be expected to be an ambassador of the firm, working with the team to promote Thomas Boyd Whyte Solicitors as well as your own professional practice both at internal and external events with comfort and ease. You will be working within an established, supportive and friendly team and be keen to work for a successful practice where you can see your career flourish.

Applications are sought from Family Solicitors or Legal Executives with up to 3 years PQE with a real passion for this area of law.

The salary and benefits offered are competitive. There may be an opportunity for some flexible working. We can accommodate candidates who would like to work less than 5 days per week, however, this is an office based role.

Requirements:
• Previously trained and practiced in well-regarded family departments.
• Experience in key areas of private family law including divorce, financial proceedings, emergency injunctions, private children act applications, pre-nuptial agreements and cohabitation work including Schedule 1 applications is required.
• Strong written and spoken communication skills and have an eye for detail.
• Experience of supporting senior fee earners in more complex litigation is required.
• Experience of managing your own caseload is desirable but not essential.
• Advocacy experience is an advantage but is not essential.
